Using two MX Revolution Mice

Issue:
Mouse input lag

Scenario:
Been playing Titanfall for a few weeks. At random times, I get this mouse lag that makes the game unplayable. I'm not sure if its low FPS though. I see everyone else running around, but my mouse starts stuttering. Now, my system is wired directly into the router. Wife uses her iPad with the Wifi. Now, I'm not sure if there is a correlation between mouse input lag and someone sharing the connection, but it seems like that's when it is affected the most. She'll stream Netflix and the mouse lag seems to start.

My 670 recently died and I RMA'd it. nVidia sent me a 770. I don't recall these issues with the 670.

Once I close the game(s), I still get a little mouse lag on the desktop for a little bit.

Attempted fixes:
First thought is my mouse. I use two of them. When one battery dies, I swap to the one on the charger. The mice are going on 8 or 9 years old now. I'm thinking perhaps they're just old? But it happens with both mice though.

I run Rainmeter with a live webcam feed. It updates every four seconds to my desktop. I've disabled that. Still happens.

Ran MSE, MalwareBytes, and SpyBot in safe mode. Still there.

Put Titanfall on lowest settings. Still there.

Played Battlefield 3, still happens.

Bioshock and Black Mesa run perfectly fine. However, those are probably not the best comparisons since BF3 and TF are a bit more "intense".

Uninstalled AVG. No luck.

Turn off real time scanning in MSE. Still happens.

Went to router settings and limited wifi usages via QoS.

Cleaned out the mice.

Installed all new updated firmware on the router.

Conclusion:
Have I missed anything? Could it possibly that both my mice are due to be replaced? Appreciate any advice. Thanks.

You don't have a wired mouse to rule out wireless interference?

Borrow one from work or your neighbor or somebody.

Yea, I'll have to wait until Tuesday but that's my next option. I honestly do not have another mouse kickin' around.

Just curious, but should I be able to see the red laser under the mouse when I move it around?

I would chalk it up to the polling rate. I believe the MX revolution has a low polling rate of around 120 Hz. With a polling rate that low any interruption in communication over the air is going to cause sync issues with the computer. This would explain why you wouldn't notice the problem in slower games.

I started to notice this issue when I first purchased a 144 Hz monitor a few years ago while using my MX518 that has the same polling rate. I now have a G700S that I run with a polling rate of 1 kHz. A band-aid solution is to enable buffered input over raw input in the games you're having issues with.

I've been gaming using a wireless mouse for years and when Wi-Fi interferes, it isn't really "lag" so much as it makes things really jerky and it almost feels like something is impeding with your mouse's sensor. I ended up moving my router and that fixed my issues.
Getting a really nice wireless mouse also helps/prevents problems, too. The Logitech G700 has served me well for a few years now.

So I moved the router across the room. I enabled Wireless Isolation and I read that switching the modem to channel 11 helps with the MX Rev. I did all that, zero issues. Wife has been streaming shows and I've been playing Titanfall all day. Works 100% fine.

Domingo is right. When it happened, I got in the habit of checking to see if perhaps there was a dog hair in the laser part.

But yea, the issue is solved. It was the router. Never thought the two would interfere with each other.

Glad you got it fixed. Wireless gaming can be tricky, but it isn't the mess it once was. Wireless routers are actually the biggest roadblock I've had as my situation is the same. I game on my PC in the basement while my wife marathon streams TV shows upstairs. It's been tricky moving the router around so that it doesn't mess with my mouse signal and/or move her WiFi signal out of range.
