mouse double clicks when single click

I have a razer naga and everytime I single click it double clicks. It's really annoying. The only answer I've found on google is that it's because 'Razer is t3h suxx0rz' or some nonsense. So, I'm wondering if there is a solution or has the hardware just crapped out on me?

It's probably the same issue as the Logitechs, contact in the micro switch is flaky.
I've had a couple of MX1000's and a Performance MX start doing that and it's annoying when you are trying to select a bunch of files holding the CTRL key and then all of a sudden all of the selected files start to open up.

For whatever reason the "high sensitivity" switches they put in fancy mice end up with the double click issue way faster than standard switches in cheap mice. Every 'gamer' mouse I've ever owned (be it logitech or razer) have developed double clicking problems within a year of use (razer quicker than logitech, I've been through 3 razer, 2 logitech). If you have the skill you can replace the switches but you have to know exactly which switch type it is and where to get it from, and how to open the mouse without destroying it. Obvious solution is to RMA it if it's still under warranty.

It's not just a personal problem either - my roommate had his Naga develop clicking issues within 3 months and my brother's steelseries kinzu started doubleclicking in under 4. As a result if I *really* like a mouse (like the CM Storm) I buy multiple copies of it so when one inevitably dies I have a backup available immediately - or in case they stop producing it (like what happened with the Razer Copperhead)

I had a double clicking Copperhead. Pulled it apart and cleaned the micro switch with some alcohol and has been fine ever since.

Its been a great mouse side the cleaning. I actually have to pull it apart again since I got some wine in the side button. The side button sticks on the first click and is fine after but I want to clean it out.

"If you have the skill you can replace the switches"

Yea, I suppose if I was really up to the task I could, but I'm too lazy. In theory I could do it, but that's only a theory I have. I'm trying to get in touch with Razer support, but I'm pretty sure it's out of warranty. I hope someone comes out with a new multi-button mouse soon, because the extra buttons have me spoiled and I hesitate to buy the same exact thing when this one turned out to be a dud.

I did take it apart in case it was something simple like a piece dust stuck in the switch, but it wasn't.

How would you clean the switch? I know you can use a pencil eraser for those carbon contact switches on a typical keyboard, but no idea as to how to clean a mechanical switch. Maybe google knows...

Dont know about the Naga but my Deathadder's software has a place where you can tweak the speed of your double click and a spot where you can actually test it. If you havent tried that already, it might be worth a shot.

Ive also heard of the older 1800 dpi Deathadders having double click issues but they were resolved with a firmware update so might not be a bad idea to check the Razer website and make sure you got the latest drivers and firmware.

I just ran a qtip damp with rubbjng alcohol over the switch and pressed and depressed the switch with the qtip

I forgot to mention the MX Revolution I have also had that issue.
It was the spring mechanism that was causing the double click on that mouse, the others I sent in for RMA but this one was past the warranty so I opened it up myself to fix it.
you basically have to retention the spring (it's a flat thin metal strip under the button in the switch.
you have to pop the cover off of the micro switch to get access to it, and be prepared to sit there for a long time trying to get it back on if the spring pops off while you are trying to bend it.

Edit:
just watched some videos on youtube and many are just spraying contact cleaner or wd-40 into the switch.
