mouse cleanin probs

i got a mx510, there was like a plastic sticker on buttom that was unsticked at one corner so it was scraping against my mousepad, i pulled the whole sticker off, now there is that gunk on the bottom, it doesnt touch the mousepad but its annoying, anyways to clean that off?

if you're looking for something free, i've heard peanut butter, soda water, and hot water are all reasonable alternatives (i'm a little hesitent to put peanut butter in computer parts though)
