This is annoying as hell. I've got a Microsoft Intellimouse optical with 5 buttons. I've got all the drivers and what-not installed. The side click buttons on the mouse don't work in games. I can't zoom in quake 3. I can't use them in Far Cry or anything. It sucks. What's wrong here?

Have you tried going into the game's options? I know some games require you to setup your mouse or keyboard for each action.

i have an mx-700 and i have one button for scrolling up and one for down as well as a scrool wheel, i can assign those buttons to something else but games always think that there the scroll wheel, i dont know wheather your problem is anything like that but i just thought you would like to know.

slowbiz- make sure u have the intellipoint sw installed. In there, there is a button that allows application specific settings. u then pick the app (far cry for exple) & map your button to a keystroke. in the game, select the action u want & pick the keystroke u want for the button u mapped in intellipoint. i had this done for about 5 games. but i recently changed to a logi mx1000 so i have to figure out how logi does it now. hopes this helps.

Some games don't support the buttons. Make sure you have the most up-to-date drivers installed. I know Far Cry supports side buttons. I used an Intellimouse Explorer 1.0 and an MX510 with it and both worked fine.
