Mounted drives not on desktop?

The title pretty much says it all.

I recently got a new macbook pro at work running snow leopard. We use a lot of network drives to move around our data however when I mount these drives (using 'Connect to server') their icons don't appear on the desktop they way they have in earlier version of OSX. USB drives do appear as normal however.

Has anyone else had this happen? Did I miss an option somewhere in the new OSX that will put those icons back on my desktop?

Go to Finder Preferences, then click General, then check the options you need under "Show these items on the desktop:"
