I've got a file I need to get rid of. .mdf file... This was a game that I had mounted a software CD drive for... I'd like to get rid of both the drive letter in My Computer and the file, but the file says it can't be deleted cause it's in use.

I've tried safe mode, but no good. I tried deleting from another PC on the network when the current PC was not logged in, no good.

I guess I need to get rid of the service or program that is creating the mounted drive and using the file. I;ve been through add/remove but can't find any software.

You guys have any suggestions?

What software did you use to create the virtual drive in the first place?

thats what i can't tell! It was so long ago... What are some major ones?

Daemon Tools prolly was installed... Is there a way to stop what is ahold of the file?

WhoLockMe might do it....but you also could re-install the software and remove the drive that way.

Agreed, i would reinstall Dameon and see if it will allow you to unmount the drive, and then remove it. Or you might try Alcohol as it might allow you to unmount the drive as well.
