I had an Asus a78nx deluxe nforce 2 motherboard, it was a solid board but not overly overclockable, I switched from it to a DFI Infinity Nforce 2 board and was pleasantly surprised at how great it is. Needless to say I am now more favorable to DFI products, I haven't forgotten however how Asus was considered the best at one point and that PC components have become a flavor of the week as far as which is the best for overclocking.
As such I'm trying to put together a new system and could use some recomendations. I would really like to have Sata II/3.0 capability and it seems only NF4 Ultra and SLI provide this. Unfortunately the only boards that DFI produces that has that capability are of the NF4 SLI variety. So I'd like to ask some questions and get some thoughts.
1) What is the best overclocking board in this round that supports Sata II 3.0, non SLI preferably but if the SLI version is that much better then please list it?
2) If I run a single video card in a SLI board will I run into problems if the SLI option is disabled.
3) I plan on using Mushikin 2x1gig DDR 500 memory, is there anything more recommended or compatible with the MB you advise.
Speaking of memory how is it these days, I have a gig of 2x512 BH-5 in the current machine and possibly could get 2 more 512 bh-5 sticks for use. Is it still the stuff of legend or have the manufacturers started releasing better memory then the CH-5 stuff?
Please forgive me as I have not kept up with the latest and greatest top performing parts as closely as I could have due to my current system being more then adequate and not requiring me to upgrade frequently since I built it 2 years ago.
Thanks in advance.
