at times, my ide devices (2nd hard drive and cdrw) are reading really really wrong in my bios and device manager, and it causes problems with my pc. the name of the drives would have garbage text in it. instead of being the manufacter and model number, it would have all kinda wierd looking text. im not sure if it's a bios problem or maybe my mobo is acting up. ive uninstalled the devices, reinstalled the drives, but nothing. sometimes it would cause my pc not to POST, or windows would take 5-10 min to load, or not boot at all. i doubt it's a windows problems, cuz even when i remove the drive with my primary partition, the bios still reads wrong. if anyone has any insight on what i should do, plz post.

thanks.

check the jumpers, if they're in cs, hard set them on master or slave

try a bios flash also

i got them set to master slave, im at the most current bios for my board i think. ima check abit's site and find out. wanted flashing to be my last option tho.
