Motherboard flipped?

Hi, recently i've seen some case's where the mother is flipped and all the pci cards and pci/e cards have their IC's facing upwards. I was wondering if anyone could tell me which cases are able to do this, doesn't have to be a list of all cases, i would just like some help locating where they're sold. I tried newegg but didn't notice any which allowed the motherboard to be installed in that style, even the most expensive cases they have doesn't allow flipping the motherboard.

on of the lian li's that has the psu on the bottom has the case like that I believe. Don't read descriptions on newegg. Some aren't right or are missing info half the time.
 
A good chunk of the Lian Li cases do that, for example the popular PC-A05 case uses an inverted ATX motherboard in a very compact size (full ATX depth & takes an 8800GTX but only 381mm high)
 
Any particular reason why you want your mobo like that? I think some people have had problems with the psu cables on those.

thats not true man.. if you flipped the mobo upside down and the psu was on bottom then the cables would be even closer not further..
 
I actually prefer this design.

I think the current trend of just putting the PSU in the bottom of the case but leaving the motherboard where it is is sort of half ass.

The CPU gets better cooling when it's at the top and the PSU is at the bottom, but the current market trend is hotter GPU's and cooler CPU's and a PSU fan can't move that much hot air (nor should it have to.) If you flip the board, you can maintain the same CPU cooling that ATX was meant for, but give the GPU's the additional cooling they need. Over all ambient temps are cooler because it's easier to channel the air to the top of the case due to the reduced clutter.

its good for water cooling also becuase if you get a leak in your cpu block it wont drip all over your video card :eek:

Doesn't Hot air rise to the top? and therefore having the psu to suck it out on the top be more practical?

Hot air moves in what ever direction you push it. ;)

Only stagnant hot air rises. Any fans, even if it's just a NB fan, in your case causes enough turbulance inside your case that hot air doesn't have a chance to rise.

Besides, I never said there would be NO FAN on the top. I guess I wasn't completely clear.

You would channel that air from the GPU to the top of the case using an unobstructed, top mounted fan. Essentially, you're bringing cool air in from the front and having hot air sucked out from a fan in the top, the fan in the PSU, and the typical fan behind the CPU.
