Most thorough hard drive testing programs?

I bought 5x Refurbed Seagate 200gb PATA drives off NewEgg, and they should arrive within the next few days. They're going to be going into an 8-drive RAID5 array (I've got the other 3 disks already, bought those new), and I don't want it to fail prematurely. I bought this full well knowing that they are refurbished, and, as such, don't have as high of a chance of working fine. However, with Seagate's excellent 5 year warranty, if any of them do crap out, I should be able to just RMA it.

But before I go throwing them in an array, I want to test each of them as thoroughly as possible, individually. Are there any good programs out there for doing this? What about the Ultimate Boot CD- should I just try the HDD tools on that?

Seagate has diagnostic tools. Use them. The UBCD probably has them, and probably generic testing programs too. No particular recommendations.
 
Try a Norton Utilitys disk. Be aware that on a 200 gig drive extensive testing means several passes, could take days per disk.

Not sure how much you would gain over just plain formating and using them. I've used a few referbed disks and as a rule they are better tested and more importantly, better handled then the ones they just pull off the line and ship.
