Didn't see a real appropriate place to put this, but I was wondering who you think has the most scratch-resistant case. Building a pc for a buddy who isn't known to the kindest person ever to case, and his house he's renting at college...well...I expect some chaos...

Personally, I like thick aluminum sheet :D

Barring that, maybe adding a layer of expanded aluminum grating over an acrylic case would render the acrylic less scratch-able, and scratches(on the expanded aluminum) less noticeable..

Of course, these both are an assload of work. The best method might be to merely strip the paint off a sturdy old aluminum case and wirebrush it, then go over it in random patterns with a rough grit of sandpaper, effectively pre-scratching it.

Steel usually. Generally, the more ornate the original finish, the easier it is to damage.

Or if the original finish is all scratchy-textured like that pic...

Get him a custom made stainless steel case, unpainted. Practically idiot proof, and a real pretty finish on it, naturally, like the old Deloreans.

hurmmm nothing that is an exspensive aluminum case..sad to say but most of the cheaper cases are less scrachable
