my 9800gtx may not have been the most power hungry, but it was definitely the loudest.

I'm working with a GTX 680 right now that pulls 280 in games.

That's the combined power consumption delta of the CPU and the video card.

The CPU (Overclocked i7 920) is responsible for ~120w of that (100w, plus PSU losses).

So it's actually ~180w from the card.

The GTX 680 was actually fairly low power consumption.

Nvidia- tesla m2090 250w tdp and could easily suck up more then that.
amd- It would have to be the watercooled vega cards if we are not counting dual chip cards.

I still have my HD4870X2 purchased from Tiger Direct on E-Bay during the Bling cash back days + a rebate from Diamond I got the card new for $380.00us
used it in windows 10 for a temp card in an HTPC for a few weeks recently,nice and stable with Hdmi sound
