okay, i'm pretty sure the consensus for the best ($ / unit) system is an XP system.

but.

my question is different. what is the best $/unit/watt system? i.e. What system would fold the most efficiently, while using power the most efficiently? Sooo, what is the system that: folds the most efficiently with the lowest cost of upkeep?

ihni...but i guess a laptop-chip would be a better contendor, but i'm not just talking about proc., i mean entire system...fan-juice included...
 
Upkeep costs vary greatly - any peeps don't pay for electricity or housing.
Then there's the variation on points due to the different proteins, etc.

okay, so i don't know how to standardize this, but let's try it this way?::

what would me the most efficient, least expensive system to upkeep?
-- all systems would be compared crunching the same core
-- all electricity prices would be the same, for testing purpouses
 
I would go.....

35 watt mobile xp at around the 2 Ghz.
Fully intergrated mobo.
Net booted so no hard drives on blades.
Set up similar to Turmelle blades so only one 120mm fan needed per blade.
Workout what the power draw is on each rail and then run 2 or 3 blades off each psu such that each psu is loaded at about 75% max load.
I recon that if you do that then a six blade setup plus controller ,+14 Ghz depending on overclock, should have a draw of around 750 watts max.
Saying that my duallies run very roughly around 15 Ghz per Kw.
