Well here is the latest on why not to buy a subzero from thermaltake....

before I get started, the best part is that you will have a relatively quiet system (at least until the side covers come off the case cause it gets too hot).. Hmm thats about the only benefit - oh yeah - runs nice and cool at idle... Gee Whiz!!

So I'd been having problems with cpu temps hitting 76'C with this puppy and made some changes - I beefed up the case fans (which are controlled by the Subzero unit). I also removed the 70mm fan cooling the subzero heast sink and slapped on a 120mm YSTech fan. Also added a 120mm case fan in the front - flow is somewhat obstructed though and the stupid Hardcano unit can't seem to control it worth a damn....

Also re-wired the case for better airflow...

Now the problems -


well for starters I bought a subzero unit for (I forget truthfully but it was at least 150 bucks)

Thermaltake tech support is the worst I've every encountered.

the subzero unit - which you would think work pretty well for the hefty price tag - lets my CPU get to 76'C Rather easily - without overclocking no less.... and the fact that It even needs to be modified to function as advertised is pathetic

The Power card unit which runs off 120AC you would think could power a few measly fans - but Noooo... it crumps out on 4 80mm case fans .. And I should also mention that this powersupply card is HUGE.. It did run OK with my old case fans but they weer probably part of the reason the temps were running so high to begin with...

Sigh***

I wish I would have spent the initial money - and the extra money I just spent on better fans -- on a nice WC setup...
 
I dont trust aircooled peltiers, or peltiers all together for that matter. Yeah, a water setup would have been a better buy.
