More than one video card doesn't work...

I want to put in another video card so that i can have a 3rd monitor. However, when i plug in the videocard, the computer won't boot up. My main videocard is an ati radeon 9800 pro in the agp slot. The second one i'm trying to add is a pci slot voodoo 3. I have tried more than one slot, and nothing seems to work. Any ideas?
