Yes, Like you are going to need 10 montors at home.

The hot shots at IBM said the average person would have no need for a personal computer.

Bill Gates said that "640k ought to be enough for anybody."

Needs change, you'll never know.

You know Surround Sound?

How about Surround Video :D

We need ATI's full 32 card crossfire set ups. Then I can have a gaming dome made entirely of 2405FPWs.

well if it supports 10 then maybe at some point they could link up 9 in a box for a ~60-70" display

then use the 10th for an extra screen.

Let me quote that article for you since you apprently didn't read it yourself:

"Did or did not Mr. Bill Gates say:

"640K ought to be enough for anybody."

He himself strongly denies to have ever said that, despite the rumors that continues to rattle the internet community.
There is no witness, apart from himself, to confirm that he did or did not say it.
Even if he did say this you have to see it in the light of the state of the art of these days:"

That dosn't even come CLOSE to being a source, infact you shot yourself in the foot with that link...

Terra - No source, no cookie...

lol, i'm posting because this is a thread about quad sli, not whether or not bill gates made a mistake 20 years ago.

*shrug* I admire your talent for hijacking

Nice strawman...
I simply corrected a false statment made by you.
So lets recap:

1. You say something false
2. I correct you.
3. You "fumble the ball" again in your reply.
4. I correct you again.
5. You try and change the topic and in the same time blame me...

Nice job in spoiling your own credability...

Terra - Correct me if I am wrong...

Nice. 4 cards. BTW, can anyone tell me where the sound card goes? Say I have a XiFi Platinum, where does it slide into?

Or does the ultimate video setup not allow for any sound?

And I posted because I lie was told and needed to be corrected, but I guess you don't mind lies then..well I like you..think about that ;)

Terra - Sarcasm could have been applied ;)

it should be okay as long as you're using single slot cards, i'm assuming. it would just get pretty hot in there.

If you just run 2 dual gpu cards there is plenty of room for a sound card. Otherwise you could use the onboard sound.

guys, take your worthless bickering to the PM's...

the more gpus the better... computers are starting to get more parallel every year now. its awesome.

heh... that's funny. very "matrix" ;) that will generate so much damn heat... open case with tons-O-fans. :)

This whole "more of everything = better!" thing is just a fad. Or, it better be.

Terra: there are better things than arguing on the internet, dude.

The only proof I will accept is a non-stop video recording of everything Bill Gates said and did since birth. That's the only way to prove a negative! :p

You don't have to prove you are innocent.
You have to prove that your are guilty ;)

Terra - The only ones that belive in "reversed burden of proof" are religious people ;)

Certain components are useful longer than others. When you go from having to buy one CPU every two years and one GPU every year to buying two CPUs every three years and four GPUs every 3 years, all you're doing is vastly increasing the probability that something's going to fuck up.

I don't know what is more rediculous--the notion of four video cards in one PC, or Terra and Pals' worthless Internet bickering. In any case, I truly doubt we'll ever see quad SLI just because of

1) it is unaffordable. Period. Not enough people would buy it to make it worthwhile mass producing

2) it would require a ten megawatt powersupply

3) the whole upgrade path argument people love to sput goes down the shitter. would you rather have four crummy older GPUs or one comparably fast new GPU with loads of new features?

Please note: My preceding statements are 100% right. If you have any problem with them, I will argue with you incessantly to the point of dragging this thread completely off topic because my ego is very very important and you must all see how right I am.

You do when I'm the judge.

Cool! I can spend ~$3,000 on video cards to get the best gaming experience & use crappy onboard sound! What's the point of having 4 slots if you can't use them with good sound?

Anyone?
