Disc Read Error.
Control + alt + del to restart your computer.

This is the message I get after I start up my computer now while it tries to Verify the DMI data pool. The first thing I'm going to do is try to boot with the windows xp Cd. If that doesn't work, I might try a repair so I can back everything up before I reformat. I've had a harddrive crash before and I'm worried it's gone.

What should be the first thing I do?
 
Did you have THIS hard drive crash before?
If so, buy a new one, use a different computer, and image it onto a new drive. That or some other kind of backup. If you don't have a computer, find a friend who will let you attach your drive and make the backup....

Then if the image is ok, you should be safe.

It hasn't happened before on this specific harddrive, but it has to the same make. It's a 120Mb Maxtor with 8mb cache. It failed on me and they replaced it. I knew this day would come that it would mess up again, so I had this coming.

I don't understand what you said about imaging the harddrive. I just put it in a different computer that only has one harddrive on that channel and I can gank files right off. I'm worried that I wouldn't even be able to access it. :/
