More immersive: 3dvison or Eyefinity

What's more immersive: Nvidia's 3dvison or Ati's Eyefnity?

Obviously to combine these technologies would require insane amounts of graphics horsepower. I think both technologies are incredible when they work well with the game. I haven't seen Eyefinity up close, only in video reviews. I think the technology is awesome for racing and flight sims. But everything else I think 3dvision is alot more immersive. I have tried the 3d glasses. The problem with 3dvision is the limited amount of monitor selections and small size. You feel you are looking through a small window. It should cover most of your vision. Hoping for larger 120hz monitors after the GF100 is released. For me the ultimate setup would be to have just one large wrap around monitor like that Alienware that has a larger widescreen resolution than 2560x1600 like 4800x1600 IPS. A pair of GF100s in SLI may have the horsepower to run games at that res in 3dvision. But seriously doubt monitor manufactures will be making these monitors.

You'll never see an IPS like that the cost would be astronomical. Those types of specialty monitors will probably have inferior panels and unreasonable markups for quite some time.

I really don't see the big deal with Eyefinity.

they both have pretty ridiculous requirements (120hz monitor just to cap out @ 60hz or 2 extra monitors)
but from my view, 3d vision sounds cooler than 3 monitors.

that said, how about triple monitor 3d vision...

immersive : 3d vision
productive : eyefinity

3d vision requires weird shutter glasses...and i wear glasses already so that would suck. i think eyefinity is a whole lot cooler honestly.

someone needs to go on and invent a damn holodeck.

Bigger is always a damn sight to behold.

Eyefinity wins over 3D Vision imo. But I'm sure Nvidia will have some sort of multi monitor gaming thing also so couple that with 3D Vision and there you have it. A 6x load on your graphic card.

No poll option? Anyway, it's really tough to choose one over the other without getting a good bit of hands on with both. On paper I like Eyefinity better. I think that being surrounded by your game would be more immersive than seeing more depth in a box in front of you. I also like how Eyefinity doesn't require special monitors (unless you count a DisplayPort connection special) and special glasses. Lastly, 3Dvision has been around a little bit longer and I just don't see the excitement for it that there has been for Eyefinity. It has been maybe six months or less and I've practically forgotten about it. Not trying to be a fanboy here, I own an nVidia card and I love it.

both at the same time :D

From my experience. I could see 3d vision giving me a headache over a longs gaming session.
I also find that the picture is less "sharp" in 3d mode rather then standard.

I vote for Eyefinity by a slight edge.

after using 3DVision in a multimedia show, I would say its very impressive but its far from the enjoyment of using 3 monitor, and wearing that 3D glass is a pain....

The shutter glasses fit over normal glasses with ease.
I'm a big proponent of 3D but its not ready for mainstream yet still, I'm saddened by the cost and lack of availability of "quality" 3D hardware.
Software also has glitches which can make some games unusable.
Glasses are a little fatiguing, better used for a few hours max (when set up right).
The better method of 3D (shutter glasses) requires 50% to 100% more gfx power.
3D is fantastic when it works right.

On the other hand, the cost of hardware for Eyefinity is very high unless you already have the monitors (2x DVI + 1x Display port - OR - 1x DVI + 1x HDMI + 1x Display port - OR - are using costly adapters or cheaper unknown cost/quality versions) and you are already upgrading to a new high performance gfx card.
As Kyles video review showed some screen modes have trouble working and there are issues with placement of on screen menus/HUDS.
Many games require you to reduce in game quality to have enough horsepower to drive 2 or 3 screens as Crossfire doesnt work yet and that is a large extra cost.
I'm not that keen on the stretched images on the side displays, that needs fixing.

So both are expensive, both have quality issues and both have performance issues.
At the moment I would plump for Eyefinity because it is the more usable solution.
You can start with 2 displays (sadly with a centre bezel bar) and work up to 3 displays.

The holy grail (almost a holodeck :)) being 3D displays with 3D head tracking and Eyefinity.
(3D head tracking allows you to move your head forward/back and left/right as well as turning, pretty awesome)
AMD need to produce decent 3D drivers or NVidia need to implement decent multi display, so this solution is some way off.
This solution also wont be at its best until Bezel Management is properly implemented as you wont be able to move your head to see round the bezels like you would in real life with say a cars roof struts.
Without bezel management you can see everything so there is no need to look round the bezels but having split images with gaps in between isnt as realistic.
Alternatively, bezel-less or very small bezel screens may come to market.
