I ordered my system from Tiger Direct yesterday at 5:15pm CST and paid for two day shipping in order to get the components by Friday. Needless to say I was stunned when the doorbell rang this afternoon. That is service! I originally tried to order from the egg but they drove me nuts. Here it is.

My storage issues are over.
I also picked up the Samsung 305T and a Silverstone ZM 1200 PSU.
These will all reside in a TJ07 with dual loop H20 cooling one 360 for the CPU and one 360 for the dual 280's.
This is going to be fun. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

WOW. You have gotta take pictures as you unpack them and assemble the PC together as well.

Awesome man! Congrats - gonna be fun to put together!
You have no idea! Hopefully the fun will start Friday. I plan to do a dry run (no H20) until I get a solid 24 hours of runtime. Once that happens the plumbing goes in and the OC'ing will begin.

It seemed like money was no object with this build. May I ask why you chose to RAID 2 x Velociraptors instead of 2 x Intel SSDs?

I was tempted to go the SSD route but after consulting with a few people I chose not to for the time being.

Where is the 6k worth of parts you speak of? Why spend 6k, seems like you can build those specs for less.

Which LCD did you get? Must be a 30" monitor or did you get a HDTV?

You could've gotten better pricing on those HDD's - probably around $600-$700 with a little shopping but I'm sure you were going to the all-in-one shop convenience.

What PSU at $350? A Corsair HX1000W would've set you back $200 and is solid.

And did you forget to add the SLI GPU's into the price?

Nice purchase seeker! Glad to see you are done with your work obligations and can spend some time enjoying life (and computers).

What watercooling will you be using?

yenniedn, you really should read the thread & look @ the first pic with 2 GTX 280's, also op stated he got a Samsung 305T (monitor). Seeker, nice setup! Makes me want to start upgrading again, my monitor feels small in comparison.

One VR for OS and an intel SSD for game installs would have been a nice compromise. Depending on how many games you are going to install. A buddy of mine has >150GB of games, but Ill be pushing to install 80GB worth (SupCom/FA, crysis, SoaSE, fear, MW4+Es)

Also, perhaps a 940 and a third GPU, since theres water in there already.

But, dayam. Thats a nice build.
(wanna buy me a P6T? please? ;) )

Ah the bulk of the money went to the lcd, HD and H20. Didn't see those pictures I thought that was 6k for the stuff you had in the pic only. :p

What information did you get from your friend regarding SSDs that made you decide to buy the Velociraptor instead? Not saying that Velociraptor was a bad purchase. I assume you will be RAIDing them? Will you be doing the same for the 1TB drives?

nice man, heard about the newegg deal on the other thread, good to see you got everything in, I say make a video of putting it together ;p

Have fun with the computer

It was basically due to my needs, size of drives available and the cost. Yes and yes.

What wc components did you get ? And will this be a cpu loop or will you wc your cards as well ?

It is a dual loop with an Aqua Cuplex DI for the CPU and an Aquaduct 360. The GPU's have their own loop with an Aqua 360 Rad actively cooled.

This was an all out i7 build! Makes my upcoming i7 build look like a theseeker lite. Hope you find this worth the money spent.

I typically do a new system every two years. Once I decide to pull the proverbial trigger, I go for the best of the best. At least what I believe to be the best:D
Thanks, I hope it lives up to my expectations and I also hope I can sell the other gear on E-Bay!

No to hijack the thread, but that actually looks strikingly similar to the build I just ordered. Just for comparison, I went with the following:

TJ07 ($360)
i7 920 ($300)
Thermalright Ultra Extreme 120 ($75)
P6T Deluxe ($300)
4870X2 ($490)
Thermaltake 1200W PSU ($370)
Auzentech X-Fi Prelude ($175)
2x 300GB Velociraptors ($460)
2x Patriot 32GB SSD ($280)
6GB Corsair Dominator DDR3 ($300) (I'll add another 6GB if I need it)
approximate total before rebates: $3100

It's already being called 'Monolith' by my friends. I was a little iffy on the SSD's, since I've heard about some stuttering issues, but I was under-budget, so I decided it was worth trying them out in RAID 0 as a boot drive. Worst case scenario I'll send them back and use the Raptors. As far as storage goes, I already have one terabyte drive, and a 24" Apple Cinema Display. I'll pick up another TB drive and put it in RAID 1 eventually. I'd love to go with water cooling, but I'll be driving this rig back and forth from school for a little while, and I don't want to risk a loop coming loose. And maybe I'll add a second 4870X2 once I think I need it.

Can't wait to see how the two rigs compare in the end. I'm betting you'll get some insane OC's on that 965. This'll be my first new rig in years (replacing a 2.56Ghz P4, so I can't wait to see the performance!).

Axe,

Nice build and hijacking is no problem..we all share in HF.
One question, why did you decide upon the 4870 over the 280?
