More CPU vs more Video Card

I'm in the middle of acquiring parts for my new system build, and I find myself with enough left over cash to do one of the following:

AMD 64 3200+ ---> AMD 64 3500+
OR
6600GT ----> X800 XL (when the price gets down to $300 like it should be, anyways)

What do you think would serve me better?
 
Assuming you want to play games with your PC, I guess the faster videocard is the best option... the 3200+ should be 'fast enough' for all games already... so the 3500+ will probably not make a lot of difference. A faster videocard would either increase the framerate, or allow you to use a higher resolution and/or more AA/AF.
But in both cases, I don't think the difference would be all that large though.
 
The best balance is the higher CPU and either video card. The reason is that some apps and games tend to be more CPU dependent and some are more video dependent. Video cards today tend to push the CPU more but, a slower CPU will also slow down any video card.
 
Video-card. With that processor, you will see more benefit from GAMES with the video-card. If you do anything less than 50% games, I would go for the proccie upgrade. This opinion assumes that you do heavy processor intensive tasks like decode stuff, etc. If you find yourself gaming, surfing web, normal day-to-day, you will like the best video-card for your money.

Again, only my opinion.
 
I think the XL is a 16 pipe card, while the 6600 is an 8 pipe card. I would say that you would notice more of a difference by upgrading your video card...especially if you are into games. Someone correct me if I'm wrong about the number of pipes on either card.

Get the videocard, and 3200+...Then buy a good HSF like the XP120 and oc that 3200+, mine is running at 2.6ghz which is the same speed as a FX55, or 4000+....
