More cheap boxen.

Sata will probably work with some linux's, especially if ur controller isn't via :( and if you do something that just left my mind. Oh that's it, i know that knoppix/ocix works for sata, even my shatty sata ;)

I would personally take the Sempr0n 3100 or a bit more for an a64. You don't need the xtras, such as a hard drive and case, hehe. Intels simply don't fold like amd's. I'm leery of the whole hyperthreading issue, too.

i thought gromacs/bigpackets folded faster on Intel's? and HT gets you like, 15% + ppD
 
If you go to order make sure to customize it, you can upgrade to 512mb and a 80GB hard drive all for free. Killer deal if I weren't poor!
 
Well the egg has that WalMart mobo/cpu combo for under $100. Add the HD, case, PSU, CD, KB, and mouse and you're at pretty much the same price (most of these you don't need for boxen). Besides, 128 MB isn't enough for big packets.
 
That Dell " supports Red Hat '' but I couldnt get it to load. mandrake was an easy install and I didnt have to add any Broadcom drivers. its folding away right now/

My Intel P-4 @ 3.2 takes 58 + hours on a 600 pointer, my 320064 @ 2.5 takes about 46 hours. Intel has yet to be faster at almost any kind of folding ;)

 
there is still ~160 hours left on a 600 pointer on my p3 733..... and its over half way done
