Alright so, first ti4200 OTES dies completely, I rma it and get a new one. This was a month or so ago i think.

Ok, new one works fine except newest nvidia drivers cause opengl games to crash. Alright, i write it off as something odd with the drivers and install old ones.

So a few days ago it started doing weird things when changing resolutions. Instead of just going black and changing, it half changed and made a tv "snow" like texture on aim windows and other things, buttons blacked out, general weird things.

So this is weird, but after a few minutes it changes resolutions and goes back to normal. I also notice in a 2d game that some random pixels change colors randomly and look weird. In DOS some letters are missing and random colors show in spots.

So fast forward to now, when i change the resolution on the desktop or quit a game that runs at a different resolution and go back to the desktop, it goes all crazy like before, except it never stops. I have to reboot to get back to normal. Annnd now the weird speckle things in this game are MUCH worse.

Other then these things the card performs normal in Call of Duty, Enemy Territory, and the other games i have.

And specs
p4 1.6a
asus p4s533-e
samsung pc2700ddr
40gb hdd
liteon burner
xp pro
abit gf4 ti4200 OTES agp8x

Really confusing the hell out of me. Maybe its not the card?

Also, can i RMA this card if it turns out to be the problem??

Don't use the forceware drivers (5x.xx). I think they are meant for the FX cards

Try using the 45.23 detonators or some other 4x.xx drivers.

Ok. Try downclocking a bit.

If the card doesn't work at stock speeds, you may have to do another RMA. As long as your card is under warranty (and as long as it's giving you problems) you can RMA it.

Can't downclock it. I try but when it tests it it does the crazy thing like what happens when i try to change resolutions....

sounds like you got a bum card from RMA.

I once RMA'd a hard drive to maxtor. They sent me a refurb drive. I installed it in my machine.

2 days later.....pfft.. it died. It happens, especially if it was an RMA repair to begin with.

Try again. It can't hurt.

Ok, wasnt sure i could RMA the replacement card.

I guess ill bum that voodoo 3x00tv card off my friend again and have 16MB OF FURY at my disposal.

Ok so i installed a fresh XP on a different HDD.

It installed fine and with the generic XP drivers it would change resolutions perfect.

Then i installed nvidia's 45.23 drivers and it got weird on me changing resolutions again. Also noticed a few funky pixels...

confusing me some more...
