Not a regular poster on here, but I do check in often to read up on the latest in 4k screens. I have tried a number of 4k monitors over the past couple of years and finally found one worth keeping.
First, I am using this in my office, so no gaming. I use one particular application for supply chain modeling (llama soft) on a daily basis which utilizes tons of input output screens/windows that can have tons of rows and columns of text/numbers. The application does not react well with windows scaling, so I had a need for lots of real estate, but had to balance readability at 100% scaling, be affordabe, and be comfortable on the eyes. I also do a lot with SQL and tableau.
I tried the LG 27UD68, but the text was just too small to comfortably read on a daily basis, and having multiple people gathered round looking at the model was damn near impossible.
I bought the mono price monitor just to kick the tires on it. I am keeping the monitor. It does everything for me well enough. I use DisplayPort and get a 4k image at 60hz. The text size at 100% scaling is big enough to read at a comfortable seating distance, and others working with me can read the results from 2-3 feet away. Color is good enough for what I need. I don’t see any flicker or other glaring issues. They only gripe with the image is that the viewing angle seems a little skinny. The brightness drops off a little if you look out the corner of your eye while sitting close to the screen. It’s not bad, but worth the trade-off for the extra space and readability.
The menu system and the button used to adjust the monitor sucks big time. I hate it, but honestly do not use it unless I have to.
So there you go...if you are looking for a budget 4k screen that is not a tv, give the mono price a look.
