Monitoring software + Custom devices?

Hey,

I was just wondering what kind of monitoring software people use? I like Nagios but the configuration is long and tedious and really a configuration GUI would be nice... so has anyone got any ideas?

Which also brings me onto my next question... How would I add custom MIBs for various devices? I have a Draytek router for example that supports SNMP, but how would I add something like this to some software like Nagios?

Not sure if you're looking for free or paid, but PRTG can do it.

Their free version will let you monitor up to 20 sensors.

This is what I've been using lately, I still have more to configure, alerts, etc. But it works very well.

Cacti is a cool one as well:

Though I've never used it personally, the IT admins at work seems to love it.

I use cacti for bandwidth graphing and i use nagios for normal ping checks to over 700 routers Ive deployed to our stores. they both work well but i definitely like cacti for graphing better.

you can probably find plugins for nagios that will let you monitor the router, but if its snmp enabled and want to check interface statistics, cacti is the way to go imo
