Monitoring remote locations without proxying all traffic thru corporate?

We are a general contractor with a corporate office, several regional offices and construction trailers scattered over a few states. Currently each location has its own Internet connection (T1, DSL, whatever we can get) and VPNs back to the home office using SonicWall appliances.

I have been suspecting that several people are spending way too much time on the Internet and not working. I haven't been asked to provide proof of this but have a feeling that I will be in the future.

I do not want to apply content filtering... I just want to be able to see where people are going and log it. But I also don't want to proxy 20+ locations back through our Corporate connection for fear of overwhelming our WAN connection.

We have a Windows Active-Directory domain and I see obvious porn sites appearing in the DNS cache. What I am wanting to achieve is logging where computers are going to. The Sonicwall appliances don't really provide this and what they do provide is too $$$ when you consider I have to purchase one for every device with annual renewal. Of course the best solution would be open-source but I am open to budgeting money towards this.

Is anyone else with remote locations doing monitoring like this?
