Hello

I have a private network that I wish to monitor. I know about packet sniffing but I want to record the websites that has been visited from other computers on my network. Do I have to set-up a http server to record and monitor websites that has been visited? my system is...

Windows 2k pro with all sevice packs and updates
wireless 802.11b network with cat5 network.

the other systems are Windows XP home systems.

Three of the computers are wireless and two are wired. if there is any help I think you before hand.

you would need to use a transparent proxy server, most linux firewall distros (I know clarkconnect will, smoothwall should) support this, and it will show sites/local IP's

Tekie has it correct. Any device that can do proxy connection checking, or anything that can track all outbound connections and log it for you is what you need. Most low cost firewalls have this ability these days, and if you have an extra machine you could setup Windows Proxy Server on it and run it transparent.
