Monitor Won't Turn On

Alright so for the past couple of weeks my monitor screen was occasionally shaking and vibrating. Tonight, it turned off randomly and it won't turn on. No lights or anything blinks on it at all. I have absolutely no idea why, I've changed outlets, but nothing has helped. Is there any thing you can think of, or should I just get it replaced?

Your monitor is giving up the ghost. The power supply in it is going, or has gone completely, bad.

It would probably be more economically wise to just replace the entire unit, as opposed to having the power supply specially ordered.... unless you have warranty on the monitor. But then you get the joys of shipping it in. if you are VERY good with electronics, and know how to not get shocked by the cathode.... but yeah just get er replaced.

edit - also be sure it isn't overheating. Be sure the grilles are clean, and you don't have papers etc. sitting on top. not likely, but i've seen it happen.

before ordering a new PSU i would say just hook your computer up to another moniter and see if it still boots up, and if it doesnt then you know it is the PSU... Same with the monited hook it up to another computer see if it turns on. Do jump stragiht into buying things that might not be the problem

yeh it's the power supply. on my 17" sony trinitron i opened it up and replaced a fuse and it started working. i dont recommend it though - the CRT stores 50000V and will kill you!
