Ok my monitor won't show any of the information during boot up on the screen anymore. It doesn't work until I get to the windows login screen. I got an LG Flatron L1720P Monitor running through the DVI ports. During the boot up process it will flash a screen real quick saying "Out of Range 170 hz" or something like that. It was working fine until i decided to unplug my chipset fan and plug it back in, cause the fan was giving me issues. Although that wouldn't have any affect on it, but that's what happened between the 2 minutes of it working right to not working. I'm sure it has something to do with the video card not detecting the monitors native resolution and refresh rates correctly, but I dont know how to fix it. So any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

hi,
same here, with a dell 2405: it worked perfectly, then (after some usb ports tinkering) it stopped working during boot, starting displaying screen only at logon.
Veido card is a Nv 6800 gt, linked via DVI.
Any help?

thanks in advance.

With my Viewsonic VX924 19" I got this all the time with an ATI Radeon 9800 256MB card. If I plugged it in using VGA it worked fine--plug it in with the DVI and you can't see jack until Windows loads. I never tried DVI on my 50" TV (would need a DVI-to-HDMI adapter, which I don't have) to see if it's the PC or the monitor.

I've got two va1912wb Viewsonics on my piece of shit x1600pro agp. My primary is hooked up through dvi, and the secondary is vga. The secondary always shows everyting through boot up, and the primary rarely shows anything until the startup screen comes up. I honestly thought it was normal for dvi to act like this, but if it is something that just happened, maybe not.

Try unplugging the dvi cable for a while, then reboot and see what happens.

It could be that the device EID (I think that's what it's called) isn't being seen until Windows loads the monitor driver. This would mean it's an issue between the monitor and either the mobo or vid card BIOS.

Well I am not sure 100% sure why it happens, but i believe it has something to do with the video card not reading what the monitors native resolution and refresh rate are. But for some reason it worked the next time i rebooted, i guess it might just be one of those quirky things that happen with my computer. As for the other guys who seem to permanently have this problem I have no clue how to fix it. Sorry.
