Monitor won't recognize HDMI input

I got the Hann-G HL231 monitor recently for parent's computer build. I have everything up and running, but the monitor won't recognize the HDMI input. I tested the HDMI out of the computer to see if it would recognize it, and it indeed works fine with my TV.

I installed the drivers for the monitor from the driver disk that came with it, still only displays from VGA.

Any ideas?

Are you manually setting which video source or relying on auto detect?

Did you use the same cable when testing on the TV?

Try with only 1 connection on both the display and the source (remove every other video cable).

In the monitors OSD (menu) try to look for a setting that says something along the lines of "digital" and/or one that says "video" or "a/v" and try selecting those options.

Do you have possibly another source that can output HDMI to try? Or another HDMI cable? Does the monitor take DVI and does that work?

I don't see much in the menu except for source select... I tried hooking it up to the other computer, and it doesn't pick it up either... this is baffling. I do have the feeling that there is something simple I'm not seeing..

EDIT: I did try it with only 1 cable hooked into the monitor and 1 hooked into the computer.... still nothing

Check the manual to see if maybe you need some special setting in the OSD to use the HDMI input?

Since you don't have a non-PC source to confirm, for your video card settings, try to set the output resolution as something TV oriented. For instance I have an AMD card, and can add specific HDTV resolutions in catalyst.

The last thing might be that the HDMI connection is simply not working, and could be something as simple as bad solder. Most monitors are only tested using VGA at the factory before packaging/shipping.
