monitor with dp or active adapter?

I want to buy a 27" monitor to use off of my laptop. Laptop does not have DVI. It will do 1440p out of display port. Should I be looking at a Qnix in combo with a displayport to DVI dual link active adapter or a monitor with displayport already available like a Nixeus or Dell?
The adapters I have seen seem to run around $100.00, is there a preferred one?
 
You can get a Dell DP->DVI adapter for $55, but it would be better to buy a monitor with DP input if you find one you like.
