I am trying to make a wallmount for a 14 inch monitor i have lying around the apartment. I sort-of have a plan on how to do it, but i need some advice on how to finish the project.

On the back of the monitor, there are 4 inserts for screws, that stick out about 1/2" away from the back panel. So i need, basically, put a screw in each of the 4 holes, and get those 4 screws to be locked into the wall. Im not sure what to do with that though.

Basically, im going to have 4 screws sticking INTO the monitor, and i need to get the heads of those screws mounted to the wall somehow. Suggestions?

You could fashon a plate that would to inbetween the screwheads and the monitor, and then attatched (welded, whatever) to that plate itself would be the actual mechanism that would be screwed into the stud in the wall.

Or you could go the cheap-and-dangerous way, and just hang the monitor with the screws on rope/twine/metal rack/whatever that's attatched to the wall.

screw the screws part way into the monitor and then make a mounting plate that will hook the heads.

Or just buy a $15 wall mount kit

ohhhh ok. yea, it could work where i screw through a plate into the monitor. yea i might end up buying a wall mount kit but im just brainstorming for now.

thanks so far.

the funny thing is, i actually didnt realize that all monitors (or at least most, i guess) are constructed this way. didnt realize this was STANDARD for wall-mounting. haha

edit: i wonder how i can cleverly hide the cables that will run to my monitor. in my room right now there are almost no visible cables on the floor. ive done an awesome job so far of hiding cables. (i hate them.)

You can sort of hide the cable with some wire raceway stuff. Look at Home Depot or Lowe's.

Most LCD tv/monitors are VESA-somethign compliant for wall mount/bracket compatability. it is a standard and works a good 95% of the time if they build it to spec... some manufacturers use different settings that require u to buy a proprietary bracket to adapt to existing wall mounts.

as for hiding wires... u could do wut the pros do... poke a hole in teh wall behind the monitor and drop the wires to the ground, then fish em out and run em along the floor... or something...

thats wut im doing w/my 27in lcd tv... runnin all cables+power thru the wall and dropping em to the ground... the downside is u need longer cables which normally mean more $$$...
