Monitor suggestions desired

I presently have 2 Asus 23" LED Monitors. While they are great I have 23" Dell IPS monitors at work and the picture quality is better and they are easier on my eyes. I've been thinking of getting 2x S2715H monitors due to more real estate but wonder if I am really getting more real estate sine my resolution isn't changing. I also have no desire yet to go to 4K. My other thought is to get 2x S2415H monitors and call it a day. I look at monitors for 8-12 hours a day, so they have to be easy on my eyes. Thoughts or suggestions?

My first thought is that having a screen that big would be less productive when I maximize windows, etc. Perhaps a misconception on my end.

depends on what you are doing. I sometimes have 2 windows side by side or in Photoshop and Premiere Pro, I just have them maximized.

Facebook is not really ultra-wide friendly as you get a lot of wasted space on the sides,

Your best bet is to look on the first 2-3 pages of this forum for the mega threads about monitors. There's a whole bunch of info in each of those threads (some have over 200 pages of commentary) about the pros and cons of the monitors.

In terms of "what's a good monitor?" It depends on what you're using it for, how sensitive your eyes are and your price point. I just threw money for 4 Asus PG278Q's for gaming. There'll be people here who think that was the worst decision ever but there'll be others who support it.

The other thing you should do is find a big box office store (or even a local store) and go and look at the monitors on display.

Nice! I have been viewing monitors in a big box store, and that has helped some. Perhaps I should clarify that I am a bit concerned though at the negative reviews regarding large pixels on the Dell 27".

you don't want a 1080p 27" they look terrible, 27" 1440p or this 34" 3440x1440 monitor.
The Seiki 39" 4k monitor looks decent from the reviews of users on this site and it's only $339 or so at Amazon.
well, it was $339 late last night, it's $379 now. I know you said you weren't ready for 4K, but damn, this seems like a nice deal.

yeah lol! I saw a popular Asus 27 inch 1080p monitor in Best Buy the other day and it is ridiculous for desktop use. The sample videos they had on it looked reasonable I guess.

Yes, the FW900 is a CRT that performs better than any LCD that will ever made. If you get a LCD, you are simply downgrading your entire computing experience. While the FW900 can be expensive, it doesn't cost more than a top-end LCD (e.g: 5K monitor, 3440x1440 monitors, 2560x1440@144Hz monitors).

If it has to be easy on the eyes, make sure to go with an LCD without any PWM dimming and a semi-gloss/glossy coating.
