i bet this question has been asked 1000000000 billion times.... but help me too XD. everything runs but the monitor won't load up. i tried switching video cards and took out the battery thing and take out cpu and put it back on and took at ram and plug it back on. Also tried rehooking things differently. Can ya'll please help me out? :D
 
happened to me on a comp I got in the shop last night... take out all the cards that are in a PCI slot, it turned out on the comp yesterday it was the network card taht went bad, good luck.
 
yeah because this was my old comp. i just replaced the case and everything else is the same except for soundcard and network card.
 
sounds like you fried something when you transferred the parts. mem?

wait... idea. do NOTHING this time but pull the battery out and put it back in, see what happens.
 
i tried that =/ you think it could be the power supply? it's only 250w and i had it running with a 420w before....
 
just an idea, when you put the motherboard in the case, did you put in any unnecesary standoffs? they can short out the motherboard, and probably make it not post.

ummm, yeah... that's your exact problem right there. why didn't you mention this in the first place? reminds me of the total n00b who... ah, lemme post it this way:

nice seeming fellow who sounds like he knows what he's doing pops up saying that his raid array will show up in dos and device manager, but not in my computer. i think to myself "drivers maybe?" but immediately junk that theory as he seems a little smart for that.
a number of [H]ers (including me) bounce ideas back and forth for at least an hour with no luck whatsoever... finally he posts:
"gee i just realized that i forgot to install the sata drivers. do you think that might be the problem?"
i have never wished more strongly than at that moment that i could reach through my monitor and strangle someone. unfortunately, physics intervened, probably for the better.

It's not always the power supply. If he's just running a fairly standard setup, i.e. 1-2 optical drives, 1 hard drive, Pentium IV or AthlonXP/64 and 512-1GB RAM, then a 240 watt power supply should be fine. You do not need a 550 watt power supply on every computer people! That's like running too big of an air conditioner on your home: it can't run at maximum efficiency because you're not utilizing it up to the point of highest efficiency.

I am running the computer in my sig on a 300W power supply and never a problem with power.

I am more inclined to think the computer is shorted out on something. Does the computer POST? if yes, then you don't have a hardware problem. If there is no video/no POST, then most likely you have something shorted out. Also make sure you didn't wire your power switch to the reset headers on the motherboard, because then the computer is just constantly rebooting.
 
well... psu is the only thing left... it's either that or the mobo.

a short is possible but i really don't see it happening. :rolleyes: then again it's 2 in the morning so the ol' thinker's about thunk out.
 
hehe wellz my brother is bringing down a 350w psu so i hope that works.... if not i'ma be :( and :mad: but thanks for the help =D
