From my experience with an LCD monitor the best picture I get is when the vid card res and monitor res are the same. I'm looking at widescreen monitors and there doesn't seem to be an exact match. Is there a way to disable the scaling on a WS monitor and accept the black bars around the picture? The bigger monitors are 1680x1050, the res my vid card has which matches the game is 1600x1024 which would be pretty close.
Thanks

What video card do you have? ALso most cards will display the correct resolution after you have connected the monitor. I know it will detect my 22inch screen.. and there is no 1920x1080 for my 40inch but after i connect the screen the resolution becomes avaliable.

I have a 8800GTS, their documenttion shows 1600x1024 as the closest match.
Looks like the only way for me to find out is to buy the monitor and hook it up unless someone else has a similar card and monitor to verify with!
Thanks

Nvidia Control Panel -> Display -> Change Flat Panel Scaling.
