may be video card related.

went from a dell 1905fp to a cheap samtron 55e+

I have Riva tuner and everything was workin fine. But Battlefield 2 wouldnt work on the 55e+ kept reverting to windows desktop.

then i installed the new nvidia drivers. then i moved to a Samsung 730B. now for some reason DVD's looks a little off and movies on my desktop looks funky in windows media player and Divx. I reinstalled WMP10 but to no avail

so what now?

You can look at this more like a bump, but I would assume you've installed the monitor driver and verified that the resolution and refresh rate are the values recommended by Samsung, right?

hmm, it only has problems with that type of video.

for BINK via BF2 it works fine, and regular flash it works fine also
quicktime too

Well it doesn't sound like anything to do with monitors...could it be a codec problem?
I don't have a DVD player but I use ffdshow to render most videos...have you tried this?
(And also make sure you have lastest video card drivers and latest DirectX installed.)

(I'm just taking a stab in the dark since there's not much info to work with)
