Monitor Overclocking

1. Is this safe to try? I have overclocked many components over the years with good success. Worst that ever happens is that the device would lock up or give erros.
2. What is a realistic overclock to expect on a monitor like mine, BenQ EW2750 VA 27" 1080p display.
3. Are there advantages to going with a multiple of 24 for the refresh rate? Recently I ran this monitor at 75hz without issues for a short time, so I am guessing 72hz would be okay. Reason for this question is that DVD movies mostly run at 24 fps. And I remember reading someplace watching a 24 fps movie on a 60hz monitor introduces some judder or screen distortion.

Also, I notice that high refresh monitors are commonly some multiple of 24 (120hz, 144hz, etc). Does not seem like a coincidence.
 
Monitor like this should overclock to around DVI limit which is 77Hz. Maybe higher if you connect DVI cable to HDMI port on your GPU using passive converter as it removes 166MHz clock limit where DVI swithes from SL-DVI to DL-DVI. I did this trick on DVI to VGA converter to get 225MHz clock and it should work on DVI monitors also.

Is it safe... probably just as safe as using monitor all. I wouldn't worry too much and overclock it to maximum possible frequency. I had BenQ VA, just older model and used it at 77Hz without any issues. Should I knew about HDMI thing I would go as high as possible :)

On my video playback monitor I have 48, 50 and 60Hz modes and player (actually madVR) switches them depending on movie frame rate automatically so pretty much all movies play perfectly. I would strongly suggest using madVR because most players alone do very poor job properly synchronizing video to display and occasional stutter does happen

This sounds like very stupid ideal. Kinda like setting Core i7 to 8GHz because it nominally runs at 4GHz

If anything go slowly over 166MHz clock limit.
Also do have second monitor for troubleshooting
