So I have what might be a dumb question, but figured it doesn't hurt to ask.
I'm running an Overlord OC 1440p monitor that's connected to an AMD HD7990. I'm also running a larger 24AWG DL-DVI cable from Overlord to help with the increased bandwidth needed. Since the new Omega driver was released from AMD yesterday, I went through the usual process of patching the drivers and setting up the custom resolutions and refresh rates for it.
Now, I should note that I've never been able to get my monitor up to 120Hz... It will do 110Hz just fine (with some coil whine, which bugs me... so I normally keep the display at 90Hz-100Hz). I know that there are ways that I could drop the bandwidth needed with CRU to try and get 120Hz, but it's never been a priority for me.
With that said, when I was downloading ToastyX's AMD Pixel Patcher utility, I noticed this:
Now... looking at CRU, 1440P @ 75Hz is only using 304MHz of bandwidth. At a 100Hz refresh rate @ 1440p it's using 410MHz. In theory, if I can get something like 85Hz @ 1440p below the 330MHz bandwidth limit for DL-DVI, I shouldn't even need to use the pixel patcher utility at all, correct? Or even 135Hz @ 1080p.
I guess that I don't mind using the utility, but the bugs (no hardware acceleration for video, for example) do drive me a little crazy. If I could avoid having to use it at all, with a little tweaking, I'd be a happy camper.

AMD/ATI Pixel Clock Patcher modifies the AMD/ATI video driver to allow higher resolutions and refresh rates by removing the 165 MHz pixel clock limit for single-link DVI and HDMI, the 330 MHz limit for dual-link DVI, and the 400 MHz limit for VGA.
