hey all.
I am having a serious problem here...
I installed a ddr400 on my other pc and then went to the BIOS and made the memory detection thing On AUTO and then saved it and then the monitor light went yellow and now it wont turn back green.. i shut down the comp and restarted it and did everything.. but the comp just wont detect a monitor....

I think its not the monitor becasuse when i take the monitor wire out .. its light turns green and it says no signal cable or somehing like that...

I think it could be what i did in the bios.. but now how the fuck am i supposed to fix it without a monitor??

Help please

whats the specs on your other pc? my dad's computer has 2 512mb sticks of samsung ram but when i put my 2 sticks of 256mb corsair xms in it, i get your same problem. im guessing it might have something to do with the mobo being picky about ram and/or timings.

No i dont see nothing at all in the monitor.. it stays in standby

On my other comp...

i got 4 memory slots on my other pc..

I am using two Kingston DDR400 256 mb sticks.. they were in there before but i took em out to try in another comp i am building..

I put them in slot 1 and slot 2.. nothing happened...
then i put them in 1 and 3 nothing happened..

didnt try the rest,,

any ideas?

Reset your CMOS how to should be in your motherboard owners manual. I'm guessing your auto detect set the timings to aggressive and now your system won't boot. Specs would help if the reset don't fix it.

yea, your computer is not posting, or making it all the way through a boot up.

Thats why there is no signal to your monitor.

Try resetting the CMOS like said before, that should allow you to get into the bios again. If not, take the new stick of ram out and see if you can get into the bios.

When you do get into the bios, I guess don't use the auto setting for the memory again and try to set the manual timings that will work.

oh so that thing did it.. because i did go to the Bios and set the memory timing to auto..

shouldnt have touched it.. :(

now i cant get to the Bios.. because i dont have the manual for my mobo but i tried downloading it from Gigabyte's website but it wont download.. it stops in the middle of downloading..hmm

My mobo is Gigabyte GA-7N400

help help help

Try hitting Delete that's the norm. i'll look up your manual just give me a few.

edit:cool :)

Take the battery out.

Wait a few; enough time for a cold "adult beverage"...... :D

Short the two battery contacts out briefly on the motherboard, just to be sure.

Pop the battery back in - boot it up. You should see the "loading CMOS defaults" message or someting along those lines.

.....you're good to go...

Just look at the jumper setup in the manual normally it's listed in the first few pages on the board layout diagram. 99% of the time the jumper is right next to the battery. I would use the jumper before I would take out the battery. I've had a freind break his battery holder off doing that.
