When I startup my PC and turn on the monitor, the monitor lights up then goes into standby and stays there (moving mouse/pressing keyboard doesn't work).

I have figured out that I can bypass the problem by unplugging the DVI connector from the graphics card then plugging it right back in. My first thought was that it may be a dodgy DVI cable, but then why does it work flawlessly except for upon starting up? Help

Q6600, Asus P5Q Pro, Sapphire 4870, Corsair TX750, 4GB RAM, Windows 7 with latest ATi drivers installed

If you have no problems with the rest of your system, then the only explanation is that the DVI cable is bad. Fortunately, you can get a new cable for cheap by checking out NewEgg or Monoprice.

if its a newer dell monitor, there is a known issue with them and sleep modes, and dells work around is to unplug the dvi and the power source to fix it.

the other solution is to just use a screen saver, and keep the monitor from sleeping while the pc is on.

It's a brand new LG, 24". If the DVI cable is bad, why does the problem manifest only when the system is booting?
