Hey,

Ok so I have a $200 budget and would like to know the 'best' monitors i can buy in my price range. I've looked at so many options, but there seems to be conflicting reviews on everything :confused:

I am running a reciever, so i dont need powered speakers, and will probably be adding a sub soon too.

Well, I can't comment on what's best, but I can talk about some options you might have.

You could look into passive (un-powered) studio monitors. They hook up to a receiver/amp just like regular home theatre type speakers.

Here's a few options:

What I'd do is call your local pro audio stores and see if they have any of those or comparable monitors. If they do, go out with some favorite cds and listen to them.

Beyond that, you could also look into home theater speakers. Your best deals would probably be from discontinued, used, or open-box speakers. The infinity beta 20s would probably give you a little bit more bang for the buck than average given that they're discontinued. I'm not a fan of Tigerdirect, though. Also, these might be worth a look, and if you can up your budget to 250, these would be even better.
