Monitor going black for a moment

I have a Envision EN-780e monitor and a Abit Silaro GF4200 128 meg video card. I am running windows XP Pro with 512 pc2100 ram. My motherboard is the a7n8x deluxe.

My monitor does this ting where it goes black for a moment, then comes back. I tried to figure out if its doing it during specific activity, but its not. It happens when I am playing games, it happens when I am just webbrowsing.... no real consistency either. SOmetimes its just once, then it stops, sometimes its like 2 or 3 times in an hour.

Thanx ahead of time for the help.

My Sony did that it was cheaper to buy new than repair, it was the high voltage transformer.

if there is no fix looks like i'm going to have to put up with it, since i'm a BROKE college student :(

Sometimes these things short out from major dust build up, is it more apparent when the humidity is high? An internal dusting may do it. BEWARE even after power has been disconnected for a long time a massive high voltage charge remains in the monitor that can be deadly. In other words enter at your own risk or peril.

A part in the monitor is probably failing or overheating. If it's the latter you can mod the monitor (assuming there's no more warranty on it) to include a small (80 mm or so) fan which sucks out the hot air. If it's the former then you're out of luck unless you happen to know (or know someone who knows) how to fix broken monitors.

I modded a fan in (quite ghetto-ly for right now) and its bad...makes my screen warble back and forth. Cooled quite well though :D . COuld it have anything to do with the fact that I have it connected to an external molex plug on my powersupply (i wouldn't think so)

You all would laugh at this mod right now. Duct tape, fan, and some cotton swabs.....yeah. But it was just temporary to see if this did the trick.
