Monitor going black after bootup

Had a wierd issue earlier while i was browsing, the screen went black out of nowhere but the monitor wasn't on standby. i reset the computer numerous times and it shows the SABERTOOTH X58 Logo for about 1 second and goes black, as before the monitor doesn't go to standby either. tried pulling the CMOS battery and changing the GPU and no luck. everything else powers on fine however. any suggestions? and my CPU was overclocked to 4GHZ (i7 930)
 
If you are using a 2 or more year old LCD screen the light or inverter could be going out. Try another monitor on the system or connect your monitor to a laptop or another pc to test. If it still goes out then replace the screen.
 
i would hit f8 after the bios screen and try to boot into safe mode. it might be an issue where the rez is set out of the range of the monitor.
 
Can you test the monitor on another desktop or laptop?

The rest of your components sound pretty strong and it would be odd for them to die only after a few years. Could be graphics card related. Power supply would probably the next thing that could be causing issues. I doubt it's the motherboard.

Do you have any other graphics cards laying around? (preferably nvidia-based so there aren't driver issues). Could try swapping out the GTX 460.

Any decent 450w+ PSUs laying around either? Try booting up just the mobo+video card and see if you can successfully get into the bios.
 
it was the inverter, i'm typing from my computer right now. lol, any way i can repair the monitor? when i connect the monitor to my computer i see the desktop for a second and it just goes black.
 
Google the model number of your LCD screen and add "repair" at the end.
