Monitor goes black after 5 secs

i always turn off my monitor after i'm done using it and yesterday i turned it on and after 5 seconds the screen went black the little green LED stayed on so the monitor didn't turn off the monitor is a LCD MAG LT916s

right now i am using a crt so i'm pretty sure itz the LCD

and of course i have no warrenty what so ever so i think i'm sunk but if you guys have any idea what to do let me know
 
yeah i could use a dvi monitor but i still am wondering why it is doing this and if i could fix it myself and save the money because the monitor still looks really good quality in games
 
so i might as well start looking into a new LCD because i hate this CRT after enjoying the LCD life for so long

if i were to buy a new monitor what should i get if i have a $300 spending cap
a frind of mine has a DELL that he got for $250 from e-bay and it is really nice i don't kno the model # yet but so far thats my only choice i def want at least 19 inches and DVI
 
can i do anything at all with my old monitor anything take it apart and look for sumthing any ideas
 
so i figured out it is my backlight going out any ideas how to fix that
could it be a short in the circuit
and i still don't kno how to get the monitor apart i took out all the ccrews but then what...
