Monitor giving me a headache

Whenever I'm at school, we have 22" Dell monitors P2210. I can not use this for more than 20 minutes without getting a headache. I've used 5-6 different computers in the lab, so its not a specific monitor but all of them. I've also been in the lab before without problems (when they had different monitors), so I don't think its the lighting or anything like that.

The monitor is hooked up using DVI, and its a reasonable distance away. At home I have a 22", and a 19", and I never have any problems.

Any ideas on what is causing this? I've made sure the native resolution is set, adjusted the brightness etc. I can (and do) go to a different lab with other monitors, and it doesn't bother me, so I don't really need a solution, but I'm more interesting in knowing what is causing it, so I know if there is something to look out for when I'm replacing my monitors at home.

Do you notice any sort of a flicker on screen or noise like a buzz (from either the lab lighting or the LCD)? Do you wear glasses, suffer from migraines or seizures? Is there glare?

This is an odd case because you said you never experienced this with other displays. One of the reasons I'm willing to wager its a combination of florescent lighting and the display in which case you can only do things to ease the stress on your eyes.

Long shoot, but this did help a long time ago for some classes I took where they had horrible monitors, try wearing sunglasses, dark ones. I don't mean lower the brightness that can make it worse. This is only a temp solution and only eases stress on the eyes. Other then that check with a eye doctor, they got me special glasses with a prism that helps. They also have special glasses designed for people to ease stress on the eyes as well, they are are a good idea in environments that you don't always have control over the quality of your display.

I don't wear glasses (but I do wear contacts). I don't suffer from migranes or seisures, and there is no glare on the monitors. It does seem a bit like I can notice the refresh of the monitor after a while, and I'm sure that is causing it, but I'm not sure why its on that one and not any other monitors that I have ever experienced.

If you notice flicker, buzzing or "the refresh" and you turn down the brightness it can make your headaches worse, no idea why. Try the sunglasses, I shit you not, when you could only last 20 minutes before, you might last 40-60 minutes after. Green, yellow or orange/red seem to work the best, but smoke, gray or brown also work.
