Monitor Gaming

Hi,

I currently have a 3 27 inch monitor set up, the graphics card is a gtx 780. I was wondering if it is possible to game on the primary monitor while having the other two monitors display other information. I read that this is possible if running the game on windows mode but that seems like it would cause some problems.

For example, while gaming on the primary monitor if you move the mouse too far to the right or left it would leave the game which seems like a bad choice. I was wondering if it is at all possible to set up some kind of hotkey which would capture and release your mouse when you press it. A similar hotkey exists with VirtualBox for those who have used it. That would allow your mouse to be immersed in the game and whenever the game is paused, loading, e.t.c. you can quickly press a hotkey and move your mouse to your other non-gaming screens.

Please let me know if this is possible with software such as nVidia drivers or UltraMon.

Thanks.

Non-Surround multidisplay will act different in specific games, so depending on what you're playing you may not need to do much for it to work the way you want. Source games will let you mouse from screen to screen while in menus but then lock you back to center when actually playing. C&C3 and AOE:Online will lock the mouse to the game screen at all times, while Rise of Nations will let it wander onto neighboring screens.

If locking the mouse to 1 screen with a hotkey is all you're looking for though, I have seen some simple apps designed to do just this and nothing else. Haven't tried myself but there seems to be plenty of options out there.
