We only have 1 tv in the house and it's a pain. The SO wants to watch tv when I want to play so I'm gonna get a monitor. I don't know what to get tho. I need some help guys. Budget is $200, need hdmi, speakers and a headphone Jack. The monitor will be about 2 1/2 ft away from me.

I don't know what size to get, new egg has some good deals on monitors now too. I'd like to order it this weekend. I'm thinking 1080p res and 23 inches would be good. They have a Hans g 25.5 inch for $219 right now tho.

What size and model do you think I should order from the egg?????

I wouldn't get a hans G due to the poor contrast and slowish response time:

If you want a good display take a look at these (around 200-250$). Speakers usually suck so I would take that off your requirements list, most of these come with speakers or a headphone jack. Also Picture Quality>Having speakers/extra inch of Size

wow ncx, didn't know 2ms would produce ghosting. need to catch up . Haven't looked at display performances in a while.

I still haven't ordered a monitor yet. I'd prefer to buy locally so if I get stuck/dead pixels I can return it. The problem is my local bb prices are crazy compared to newegg. They do carry the shiny asus monitors that I like tho. I know I need to get a monitor soon tho. With only 1 tv me the so and my daughter I get limited play time.

I wish bb would price match new egg. I have a microcenter 40 miles away, but that's a 80 mile round trip. When I look at the specs for the monitors they are all over the place in terms of dimensions. I'd like something on the bigger end as it will kinda trick me like the monitor is bigger.

The acer is 21.56x 16 the lg is 19x 13 I know the screen size is the same but the lg would look smaller compared to the acer next to it.

With a 1080p monitor I won't get any black bars will I? Sorry for that noob question I don't know how a 1080p monitor will scale the pic compared to a 1080 tv. My neighbor has a 50inch 1080p tv and it looks nice playing games.

I currently use a 32inch LCD HDTV but I sit like 6ft away from it so a 23inch monitor at 2ft away shouldn't be too bad of a change.

1080p is 1080p. Just because its a 'monitor' doesn't mean anything. Your picture will scale just fine as the 360 outputs 1080p.

I'm probably goin to bb and looking for a monitor, if I don't find one newegg here I come
