Monitor for digital artwork

Ok, I know very little about the quality of the various monitors out there, so the [H] seemed the likely place to ask for advice. Here's the deal:

I need a quality monitor, preferably under $600, that would do well for artwork (ie. 3d art, digital photography, etc). I'm not picky when it comes to brand, but given the nature of the work I'm doing, I need a quality monitor. Any suggestions would be great. Oh yeah, I plan on running dual monitors, and I'd prefer to not have to buy new shit for RGB analogs. Thanks. :)
