Monitor dying on me :(

Hi guys,

I've an LG L226WT monitor that seems to be dying on me. During the past few days, every time the monitor goes into standby or is turned off, when it's turned back on, it's filled with a white screen. I already made sure it wasn't my computer. So far, the only way to fix it is by unplugging it, waiting a bit, and plugging it back in--using the power button doesn't seem to work.

Now, ideally, I'd like to fix this monitor as it works just fine otherwise. Does anyone have any ideas on how to repair it? Would a simple part replacement get rid of this issue?

Assuming repairing this monitor isn't worthwhile, what monitors should I look into that you guys recommend? Anything in the $200-$300 range would be ideal. Low response time is a must as I can't stand gaming on panels that lag like the majority of the HDTVs out there.

Thank you!

It could be the capacitors on the power board might be bad. I just recently had that happen to both of the Samsung 22" monitors I owned. I took it apart and found three of the capacitors bulged on the power board though my symptoms were a bit different. Mine would not display and would have to turn it on and off quite a few times before it would show a picture. All in all the fix cost me about 10 dollars for new capacitors and buying coffee for my co-worker that soldered them in.

Sorry I didn't reply earlier. I completely forgot I had posted here :(

I took apart my monitor, and I noticed that a whole bunch of 1000mF capacitors were bad. I already ordered new ones from digikey and I'm waiting for them to arrive. I will post here once I attempt the fix just so that we can have another documented solution :)

Meanwhile, I bought an ASUS VE278Q that I'm very much enjoying. The thing is HUGE compared to the crappy 17" I've been using.

Thanks for the reply!
