Monitor Doing Wavy Things

Okay! I have another problem, and I noticed that all the problems started arising after I registered to this forum :rolleyes: JK, I'm glad I discovered this forum!

Right at this moment, my monitor is doing this little wavy thing, it's like sending ripples looking thing upward. I tried to Degauss several times, that didn't do the trick. How do I stop these ripples?

I have a Viewsonic A71f and a nVidia geforce 3 Ti 200.

Increase your refresh rate and check if the speakers sitting next to the montior are magnetically shielded. I was suprised when I went over to my mates house and used a pair of his PC speakers and they weren't shielded.
 
Also see if you have a screw in the back labeled V-Sync or H-Sync or something like that. Twisting that screw might fix your problem. Or it might add another one.
 
ya dont have any other monitors closer by do ya?> when i had 2 crt monitors side by side and i turned them both on 1 would get wacky wavy lines thru it untill i moved them about half a footy apart it lessened...noise or emi from the other monitor is all i can figure...but speakers will do the same to it too ive found out
 
unshielded speakers can cause distortion on CRT's as well...

Or if you happen to have your machine right next to a generator... heh...
 
Thanks for all the replies. Speakers don't seem to be the problem, I removed all of them off the desk, didn't fix the problem. BTW I have the Logitech x530.

TeeJayHoward - My monitor doesn't have that little screw thing you speak of.

I changed it from 60hz to 75hz, no more eye straining waves. Will this harm my monitor drastically? My friend said "it will die faster" :eek:

eww man I don't know how you could stand 60Hz :rolleyes: I usually can't take anything below 85..

Probably not. However, looking at a 60Hz screen is not good for your eyes, so you might just have saved them from a trip to the optician in the future.
