Monitor Distance & PPI?

I'm at a crossroads here. I currently have 2 of the Monoprice 27" 2560x1440 IPS LED monitors and to be honest, I really like them, but I'm wondering whether I need to start looking for something else.

Could be that I'm starting to get into old fart territory, but text on these monitors is just small as heck. The monitors sit about 26" from me and run around 109 PPI I believe and I'm wondering if maybe I need to go to a different sized monitor with a different PPI. I really don't play multiscreen games, but I do like being able to play a windowed game in the 2560x1440 range while having other stuff open on the secondary monitor.

Any thoughts/suggestions?

A lower DPI monitor might solve your problems but a higher DPI is really better for reading if the font has high enough size. And since you already got these monitors, I think its best to try to decrease DPI in OS settings. Secondary learn to use a convenient way to zoom in various programs. I use ctrl+mousewheel to zoom all the time, in Windows programs. But if you mess around in many different older and odd programs those settings will have no effect or bad effect.
